I’m Aron Wander, and I like Judaism, organizing, and Star Wars, generally in that order. This blog is my way of processing my feelings and thoughts about those things, politics, poetry, Zionism, and other stuff I rant to my roommates about. I chose the title – Hitnodedut (התנודדות) – because it’s a pun.

While hitnodedut (pronounced “heet-noh-deh-doot”) means many things, among them “swaying,” “reeling,” or “vacillating,” or “staggering,” the root of hitnodedut is NaDaD, which means “wander.” It’s also a reference to hitbodedut, the Hasidic practice of self-reflection and meditation. Since hitnodedut is (sort of) the reflexive gerund form of NaDaD, the word could be (creatively) read as “to wander within or with oneself.”
